Our History
We set out to fight hunger, poverty and climate change as a social enterprise called Sustainable Green Initiative in 2012.
Over the last 12 years we we have planted more than
4 crore trees. Our primary beneficiaries have been marginal farmers in regions that have borne the brunt of climate change the most.
In May 2018, after carrying out some volunteering and small-scale activities, we formed a charitable trust with the name of Sustainable Green Initiative Foundation (SGI Foundation)
Our vision is to be recognized as one of the execution and thought leaders on environmental interventions to fight climate change, alleviate hunger, recycling and waste management and other sustainable developmental goals.
Our mission is: Empowering the most vulnerable communities by using indigenous methods and modern science to create nature based solutions to counter the effects of climate change.

No poverty
Fruit trees provide an alternate source of income for farmers.
Clean water & sanitation
Increased green cover results in more rainfall & recharging groundwater. We also implement rainwater harvesting at all our sites.
Zero hunger
Fruits trees are an excellent source of nutrition.
Life on land
Increased green cover creates new eco-systems, supports biodiversity & reduces soil erosion.
Decent work & economic growth
Assisting marginal farmers to sell and process their produce. This also addresses forced migration.
Good health & well-being
Native fruit species meet a number of dietary requirements, especially for women & children.
Climate action
SGIF's key focus is to increase green cover by planting native species which are fast-growing, fruit-bearing & long-lasting.
Let's help each other
There's no courage in planting a tree. True valor is in nurturing a tree to maturity
