Agroforestry

Traditional farming practices are simply not sustainable with the falling land holding per farmer. There is ample study of the dropping earning for the farmer, increased debt, poor soil health and exposure to extreme weather events. Agroforestry is just one activity to make the farmer more self-reliant and resilient in the face of climate change

The project empowers small farmers and marginal farmers by planting fruit, timber, and medicinal trees over at least three years. Using natural farming practices, we support farmers from planting to maturity, provide non-chemical fertilizers, mycorrhiza, and vegetable seeds, ensuring sustainable income and resilience against extreme weather.
Planting fruit trees with marginal farmers enhances resource use, boosts soil health, and increases yields. Over 60% are fruit-bearing, with 40% producing in the first year, adding Rs 500/tree annually. This improves nutrition and aims to create wealth exceeding Rs 20 million, promoting agroforestry and sustainable practices.
