Tree Planting
According to the Global Forest Watch, India lost approximately 1.93 million hectares of tree cover between 2001 and 2020, largely due to agricultural expansion. India is heating up. Between 1901 and 2018, temperatures rose by 1.3 degrees Fahrenheit. Planting trees remains the most effective and easiest way to fight climate change.
The challenges we face
Vicious Cycle
Farmer puts in chemical fertilizer in the hope of increasing production
Land Holding
Small holdings: Low yield/Low income for the farmer
Climate Change
Extreme weather events drive farmer to extreme economic pressure after crop is lost
Low Yield and Debt
Farmer takes credit to restart same crop using same traditional farming practices
Land Degradation
Soil health constantly depleting while water levels drop.
Livelihood
Giving the farmer an alternate source of income via fruit tees and timber. Increasing yield out of the same plot of land.
Capacity Building
Upskilling farmers on newer skills like mushroom farming and beekeeping etc to find alternate sources of livelihood.
Irrigation Support
Working with communities to revive old rain water harvesting practices and water bodies.
Natural Farming Practices and Survival
Promoting and spreading awareness on natural and organic farming practices
